The title of the song comes from old nicknames that someone I knew used to give to other people. The "Quail" within the song represents me since that was my nickname by the "Lioness". The opening displays the loving quality a person can have all the while knowing that you're completely doomed. The sudden change in the middle is mainly for the boiling anger and stress underneath after things go to hell, while the ending comes back to a realization that all I had left were memories of doing the few things we could do ('Life of Pi').
